Fancy a holiday with a difference? Then why not come to Ireland for the "€˜Celt Weekend in the Woods"€™ event in Bealkelly Wood, Tuamgraney, County Clare.

The "€˜Celt Weekend in the Woods"€™ combines a taste of traditional Irish life with exciting activities designed to heighten your understanding of the ecological and environmental issues affecting Ireland at the moment.

The "€˜Celt Weekend in the Woods"€™ events are open to most people aged 8 and over. Three events will be run in 2010, in May, July and October. On arrival, participants will be able to choose from a range of 18 activities, which are all based on ecological or environmental trades. Participants can come to the event whether they have prior experience and wish to improve on their skill-sets, or whether they have never tried their hand at such skills and wish to learn the basics.

Among the various activities offered are:

Introduction to Leatherwork; where participants are taught to make use of various types of leather using old-fashioned hand-tools, why not make a traditional Celtic wristband- a souvenir of what will surely be an excellent holiday.

Herblore; a course designed to teach participants of the beneficial properties of plants found naturally in Ireland. Included in this activity are tips for making home remedies, lessons on how to grow plants at home and preservation of herbs- if you happen to get lost in the woods during the event, then you will definitely be able to draw on your newly acquired survival skills to make it through the woods alone.

Greenwood Furniture; who needs IKEA when you can make your own furniture from what you can find in the woods? For this activity, participants will begin by constructing small items from wood, and progress to make larger furniture items.

The above activities are just a small taster of those available during the weekend. After the weekend, why not take advantage of your hired car to explore the rest of Co. Clare, which is renowned for its musical traditions. Other places of interest include Cliffs of Moher, Doolin
Ballyea waterfall, The Burren, Spanish Point and Scattery Island. Certainly enough to keep you thoroughly entertained throughout the duration of your holiday. Car Hire is available in Dublin and major cities in Ireland.
