griffiths valuation info

I have searched the griffiths valuation databased accessable from here and found details of several ancestors, however there appears to be only minimal information. i.e. name village and parish/county. There does not appear to be a date for the listing. Also I understood that this would give details of the holding of land and it's value at the time etc. Does anyone know whether this type of information could be gained from consulting the actual records? Is the online info just a portion of the griffiths records?

griffiths valuation

data on site is subset of full griffiths records. Original Grifiths valuations were done at various dates through out country in 1850's. You may be able to view original valuation records at your local center. Subsequent land valuations are not on any database but can be viewed in Dublin. These are held in 'cancellation books' ie when land passes to another person etc

Mulcahy Family

Looking for any and all info I can get on the Mulcahy family. I have found a birth record for a Timothy Mulcahy born 1796 in the parish of Castlelyons with the parents being Matthew and Ellen Keefe Mulcahy. The sponsors were Jeremiah Shea and Ellen Rohan. I also have a marriage record for Timothy Mulcahy/Mulchahy 01/02/1814 these are not exactly matches from my census of Henderson Kentucky of 1843 that stated he was born in 1799. If anyone has any info or knows were I could find more please e-mail me at Kmulcahy1952@hotmail.com

Hello Patrick and Fintan,

The Ulster, Irish and Local Studies of the five boards of the NI Libraries should be able to assist with look ups for Griffith's Valuations.

BELB Libraries
NEELB Libraries
SEELB Libraries
SELB Libraries
WELB Libraries

http://www.ni-libraries.net

If you use John Hayes failteromhat.com site it also has the Valuations and you can check each county for the year which the Valuation took place.

There are also the Annual Valuation Revision Books from the time that the Valuation ended in 1864 to about 1930. These should help you establish if a family emigrated or if the head of the house died. Unfortunately these books are not online.
