After searching for over 25 years, I have finally confirmed that my grandfather was born in Ireland. His United States draft registration card shows his birth place as Westport, Ireland. My grandfather's name is Joseph Charles Carroll and he was born on May 18, 1890. His father's name is either Michael or Joseph and his mother's name may have been Harriet. The ship manifest for Joseph's arrival in the United States in 1910 shows his last residence as Rossbeg, Westport, Ireland. |
