Mary O'Connor	Wednesday 18 April 2007 1:15:59 pm Isacc and Fanny Lester Fanny is my Great grandmother and I think that she was born in County Cork. I do not know her maiden name. Fanny married Isacc Lester who was English and it seems that they probably moved around a lot as it has been said that emmas sisters & brothers were born in various parts of England. Any information would be much appreciated.
Jill Gilliver	Friday 16 November 2007 9:22:28 pm Isaac & Fanny Lester isaac Lester is my Great Great Grandfather.1835-1891. He was a soldier in the 33rd Foot Regiment of the British Army, posted to Fermoy in 1864 and married Fanny Toomey soon afterwards. They had several children, the first being Mary in 1865 also born in Fermoy. Yes, their other children were born in different places as they were posted around England, my Great Grand Father is William born in Portsmouth, England. I have Isaac's complete military service history but no nothing else about Fanny other than I would guess she was Catholic as my Grandma was before she got married. I would like to get in touch with you directly if possible as this is my fist positive link to Fanny.

I checked your info out with my sister and she has confirmed what I already knew. We are definitely the same family - welcome relative! I have to work this out now: 1891 census states that Fanny Lester's profession was a washerwoman. One of her daughters was Emma who maried Austin Bailey and they lived Aston in Birmingham. Emma was my dad's mother - he was born in 1911 and married Fanny Butler. Then came my brother, 3 sisters and then me. Hope that I got that right. I understand from another census that William Lester was a 'Iron Moulder'. He is the link between us. Kind regards, What country and whereabout do you live Jilli

Sorry I didn't reply sooner, had mis-spelt my email address, so got no prompt that you had replied. I live in Lincolnshire now but was born in Leicester. Are you in England as well? your name suggests you may have an irish connection. Do you have any info on where Isaac was born as I am stuck on this one. Census returns say Hathern, Leics, but I cannot find him on the parish records for that village. I'd love to find out more about my irish roots but am finding it very difficult, do you have anything? Do you know if there is some way we can make direct contact?
