Scanlans in Kilnaughtin Parish

Would like to share information on anyone related to the Scanlan and Scanlon families in Kilnaughtin Civil Parish. My Scanlans originated in Kilcolgan Lower townland (Cornelius), and in Doonard Upper townland (Thomas).

Scanlan / Scanlon

Hi, just wondering if your Thomas Scanlan ever lived in Liverpool? I am trying to track down my family tree and have details of my grandparents - Thomas and Margaret Scanlan who lived in Liverpool in 1924.

Regards

Anne

Cornelius Scanlan and Margaret Culhane of Kilcolgan Lower.

I may be related Margaret, Hannah, and James Scanlan of the Town of Ballylongford. My GGGGmother was Catherine Scanlan. Her mother is believed to be Margaret Scanlan. Catherine married Thomas Culhane about 1828. Thomas, Catherine and their eight children immigrated to Natchez, Mississippi Dec. 1850. Next to the tombstones of Thomas and Catherine (Scanlan) Culhane is a headstone for Cornelius Scanlan-died July 18, 1854, age 28 years. old. Also, I have a copy of a Natchez, MS marriage certificate between Cornelius Scanlan and Margaret Culhon (sp) dated 11 April, 1852. I believe our Cornelius Scanlan and Margaret Culhon (sp). of Natchez, MS may be the same Cornelius Scanlan and Margaret Culhane of Kilcolgan Lower (they appear to live close to each other in Griffiths Valuation Dec. 1851). Finding the ages of Cornelius and Margaret of Kilcolgan Lower (Townland) could solve this issue. Would like to share any Scanlan/Culhane of County Kerry information. Thanks, Harry Smith
