Nelson family
I am trying to search for the family of an Ann/e Jane Nelson. She emigrated to Australia on the ship Elizabeth from Cork on 1/1/1844. I believe she may have been born c.1830. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Nelson family
Hi Carmel, great to hear back from you. When I first looked at your reply, your email address was there, but when I went back to answer, it had been removed. You can contact me on Facebook Louise Carey.
If you get this soon enough, you can contact me on louisec at hotmail com au. Broken it up there in case it it automatically detected. Anne is actually Mike's great great grandmother. I have a couple of possibilities as to where she was from in Ireland. However I have her application to marry Peter (who was a convict, she was free) so can be sure that we are talking about the same person. I forgot to say we live in Wee Jasper, just outside of Yass. Mikes family have farmed here for about 6 generations. So I have information on Mikes line of descent through the maternal side. Peter and Ann lived up the road from us at Waroo where they had property. She had 14 children, not all survived. The historical society has records of land ownership, so that will be my next bit of investigation to determine exactly where they lived. I also have quite a bit of information on Peter, who should have hanged for highway robbery, but was commuted to transportation for life.
I have been to Yass historical society, and briefly checked in on this couple. I have more work to do on them there, but time is a bit of an issue! As you can imagine, with Mike's family having been here for so long, I have a lot of lines to chase up on. I did find out from them that Anne died in Grenfell, NSW., and has the surname Crummie recorded as a second surname, there are many different of that name and I cannot find out how it came to be attached to Ann. If you want to call to get my email address 62279654 or you can find us easily in the phone book if the number is deleted. I will only be here until the twentieth April, then will be in available by phone until the second week of June. Looking forward to comparing notes and determining relationships!
Regards
Louise
