My grandfather was a decendent of John Rice and Bridget McGuire.
My grandfather was John Rice. He was born in Pennsylvania and died in DuBois, PA.

Here is what I have on him:JOHN RICE , born 2/ 1890 in PA, married to Margaret Karpstein.

John’s Parents: Bernard (Barny) and Mary. Siblings: John, Daniel, Annie
Father: Barny (Bernard) - Born: Bathgate, Linlithgow West Lothian, Scotland on Nov. 22, 1860. It seems him came to the US around1885.

Mother: Mary Hiller There is a record of a Mary Hiller who came over from Glasgow Scotland in 1884. She was born in 1872., and came to the U.S. in 1884 – 1886, making her about 12 – 14 years old at the time. She and Barny married in 1889. Grandpa Rice was born in Pennsylvania in 1890.

There is also a record of a Mary Hiller from Ireland born Aug. 1865. Both her parents were born in Ireland.

Other records show that Barny married another “Mary” in 1898. (This may be a typo or his first wife may have died.)

Barny’s Parents:
John Rice and Bridget McGuire Rice.
Mother: Bridget McGuire was born Oct. 23, 1836 in Dundee Angus Scotland.
Her parents were James Patrick McGuire (1801) and Ann Gibson(1805). James Patrick (Bernard) and Ann were married Sept. 19, 1831 in Old Machar, Aberdeen, Scotland. They lived in Parish: Glasgow St Mungo, Springburn address,; County Lanarkshire. When she was 14, she was an apprentice cotton starcher.

Bridget McGuire married John Rice on Oct. 16, 1853. She was 17 and he was 29.
(6/10/1853 RICE JOHN BRIDGET MCGUIRE/FR1135 M Bathgate /WEST LOTHIAN)

Father: John Rice was born in Ireland in 1824.
John Rice’s siblings were: Edward born 1855 in W Lothian (662/00 0044), Margaret, and John.
Parents:
Father: John Rice, born 1801 in Ireland, St. Thomas, Liverpool parish, Lancashire,
Mother: unknown
Siblings: Margaret and Hannah.
Somewhere between 1861 and 1871, John died.

Bridget remarried William Crossan somewhere before 1871 census (probably when Barny was about 5 or 6 years old) and they had more children: William and Patrick, George, MaryAnn, and Joseph.
