REID ancestors
Looking for information on my great, great grandfather Alexander REID, cooper.

I have no idea where about in Ireland he and his wife were from.

I found a possible match in the 1871 census which shows an Alexander REID b. abt. 1833 Ireland, occupation Cooper living in Liverpool with his family as follows:-
Wife Margeret b.1835, children Alexander, Thomas, Patrick & Margaret, all born Ireland and younger children Andrew & Mary both born Liverpool.

This could possible be him although our great grandfather, James REID, is not listed at the address. He was born about 1845 and was a seafaring man, so it's possible he was away at the time of the 1871 census takings.

James married Elizabeth SMITH (father was Thomas SMITH) in Liverpool 1870 and they had my grandfather, Christopher REID.

Unfortunately, I'm having difficulty finding them on the census records and Elizabeth seems to have disappeared by 1881 because their son Christopher is shown as living with his uncle and aunt in Liverpool. They were Charles & Mary LUCAS, both born Ireland.

If anybody has any connections with the above and can offer help with my research please reply.

My dad seemed to think that there was a connection with either Dublin or Antrim, but we don't know.
