Mary Jane O'Dowd
Hello,
My wife's(Janet Kellett, nee Mackintosh) Great Grandmother Mary Jane O'Dowd's Birthplace has,so far, proved to be untraceable. We believe that she married William Charles Lambert,an English soldier serving with the East Kent(the Buff Howards)Reg.,around 1863-4 and their son James lambert was born about1864.On the 1871/81/91 English Census'she is down as being either from Ireland or Limerick but,on the 1901 English Census she states she was born in Dunnogan(as spelled in Census book),Clare.
We have searched William's Army records but there are no details of a marriage or of James Birth.
I have found a Doonogan Townland in County Clare(Dun Ogain)and wonder if this is her birthplace
I believe that,by 1901 Mary was really looking back to her early days and probably gave correct details of her home-land.
If anyone has any information about Mary Jane O'Dowd(O'Doud)would love to hear from you.We have no idea of her parents names or of any siblings she may have had,so any help in giving her the comfort of her own family in our minds would be wonderfull.
As we now live in New Zealand we are a bit too far away to be able to have look in person.

Best regards,

Rob Kellett
