I'm researching the family of Dennison who appear to have come from Lower Cumber. My 2xgreat grandfather was William Dennison (born in Ireland c1834) who married Agnes Allison (born in Ayreshire 1838) the marriage took place in Baillieston, near Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland on 5th June 1857. Their first child, Margaret Dewar Dennison was born in Baillieston and the family moved to County Durham, England where their other 8 children were born.
William's parents were Patrick (or Peter) Dennison and Margaret McArthur and they had 5 children in addition to William; Margaret b 1835 at Lower Cumber, Mary b 1839 also at Lower Cumber, Alexander b c1844, Mathew b c1844 and Catherine b 1847 at Lower Cumber. Alexander also moved to County Durham and at some point, possibly after her husband's death, Margaret McArthur moved there too because she is found living in the households of both William and Alexander in different censuses.
I should like to trace the Irish line and to find more about this family's time in Ireland and the circumstances of their leaving and am keen to exchange information with anyone sharing the same family lines.
