Begun to despair
I have began to despair of ever finding any information about my gt grandfather`s family, and actually wondering if the right name has been given .

My gt grandfather was Stephen Geoghan, and one one census only, stated he came from Galway, ut I have searched for quite a number of years now without any success, and wondering if he did in fact give the correct name when he came to England.
I know there had to be some of the family still in Ireland, my mother had taken my brothers to visit there when they were both very young. Unoftunately my eldest brother was killed in the war, and my next brother had been too young at the time of the visit, to recall where and who they had been staying in Ireland, I have no relatives left to ask for these vital details, and as I mentioned above, am now despairing of ever finding them.

When my maternal grandfather died in 1954, I was not at that time interested in family research, and so asked no questions about his father, where grandfather would have answered or not, I have no way of knowing though.

I thought when I discovered this site, that perhaps this may be my last chnce to put out an appeal, but even that has not worked either,
Ot is so frustrating trying to trace any Irish relatives!

I think I must close the chapter on them now and accept that I`m never going to know about them.
