Hart Family of Armagh
Trying to tie this family down. What little is 'known' is on an Isaac Hart, his brother Jacob and their sister Betty. The early information on Isaac is takrn from his court documents at the time of his naturalization on Octoberr 18, 1836 in Franklin County Indiana. He state that to the best of memory he was born in County Armagh about 1780. From it we also learn that he left Belfast in June 1817 and arrived in Baltimore Maryland. He finally made it to Franklin County Indiana in October 1819.

There are letters between Isaac and Jacob. From them it is though that the brothers left Ireland for Hamilton Scotland where they open up a Linen Merchants busineess. It is not known if Isaac immigrated from there or went home to Ireland before immigration.

When Isaac reached Baltimore Marylands it is thought that he traveled to New York where he married Mary Carruthers. Mary had been born in Ireland also.

I am thinking that with them opening a linen merchasnt business in Scotland they most have known something of linen. Either the growing of Flax o\r the actual linen merchant business. This would mean that they were probably members of at least one guild correct? I have found some Hart names in a 1796 Flax Growers list. Is there anyway to find the familuy that Jacob, Isaac and Betty belonged to? It is known that they were fairly religous but I dop not think they were Catholic. Isaac and Mary were notr buried in a Catholic Cemetery in Franklin County Indiana. Soi that leaves COI (Anglican) or Presbyterian correct? What is the best way to find pariosh records if any.

Thanks

Bob
