Re: Thomas McDowell from Portadown in 1880.
My great grandfather was a Thomas McDowell from Portadown who left for Canada about 1880. His wife Rachel died young and he emigrated with one of his daughters, Rose. My grandmother, although only about 6 years old, refused to go and was brought up by uncles in Ireland. I know Rose was living in Canada in 1891 but not with her father. She married and brought up a family there. I have always wondered what happened to Thomas so it would be wonderful if you knew the end of the story - very possible he moved to USA.
However it's 10 years since you posted your message so I hope you still check your post. Look forward to hearing from you.
