Cavan (county)
I am the g-g-g-g-g-granddaughter of James and Abigail Leviston of Drung Parish. Their daughter (my 4g-grandmother)Abigail was born in Drung in 1786. She married John Lang in Drung in 1808. Their daughter Mary Lang (3g-grandmother) married William Flannelly in Skreen, County Sligo in 1832. I am trying to learn more about my Leviston ancestors and if there are any relations still in Cavan today. Any help will be appreciated. Maureen
I am researching my family- Langs of Castlepoles and have come across
the name Leviston. Although I cannot connect to my family I wonder if you know the 1821 census for Drung parish survived and is searchable on line at Cavan Genealogy. The Irish Family History Foundation is a fabulous web site and could be a good starting point. On the 1821 census there is an Abigail Leviston(55) with children Mary (18) & James (16) and grandchild Catherine(7). Good luck in you research.
