I saw your message re above name and I have a Kate McGovern who married Robert Shannon in Australia in 1882 . I am wondering if any of your McGoverns could have come to Aust.
Robert Shannon arrived Aust.1874 and was my grandfather's brother. All of the Shannon and McGovern people in my line came from County Cavan, Ireland.

Are you sure of the mother's first name? I have a Patrick born around that time to a Charles and Margaret Walpole McGovern, both of whom died abt. 1840 (in Ireland) leaving several young children..Patrick one of them. Other siblings were Elizabeth, Mathew, Charles and James. any possibilities here?
