My name is James Byrne.....I was born in Dublin and lived in Dalkey Hill, Co.Dublin - all my life, until I went to seek my fortune in England - STILL LOOKING !!!
I would love to trace my ancestry as far back as I can go.....only help I can give is that my grand father was born in Wicklow (James Byrne) - in Avoca, I think.
He worked in the quarries on Dalkey Hill - helping to build the harbour at Dun Laoghaire, Co.Dublin.
He had a pile of sons - James (my dad), Mick, Paddy, Dan, Tom (I think there were another two but can't remember the names).
My Father, James, worked for the Gas Company and my mother, Esther (maiden name, Dwyer, from Dun Laoghaire).
I was born on 15th November, 1939.
Not sure when my Mother and Father were born.
That's about all I can recall of my early days on Dalkey Hill.
Looking forward to hearing back from you.
I would love to know my family tree - just to hand down to my daughter.
When I go, then the family tree is ended, unless she takes up the name.
