My gt grandparents, both born Ireland, whereabouts unknown, were MICHAEL MANIX and ELLEN HIGGINS, birthdates estimated between 1830-1840. Michael was a Mason and died in Plymouth, Devon in 1877, aged 48. Their 3 sons were born between 1865-1872 but none appear to have been registered, whatever spelling variant I try. Michael Augustus is on the 1901 census as MANIA. Can anyone please give an indication of which area of Ireland to begin searching?
