Duffy Family
I am seeking family of my great, great, great grandfather, Patrick Duffy.
Patrick was born cir 1784 in Co. Roscommon. In August, 1812 at age 28 he was charged (we believe as a rebel) at Roscommon and sentenced to 14 years transportation to New South Wales, Australia.
Following his trial he was held at the Cork Deport awaiting transportation. He finally boarded the ship 'Three Bees' sometime between 22 September and 2 October 1832 as one of 210 male Irish convicts.
Some time after arriving at NSW he changed his name to Martin. It is possible that this was also a family name.
As all records relating to Irish trials and transportation was destroyed in the fire at the Four Courts in 1922, it has been difficult finding any records relating to Patrick other than at the time of his trial, Patrick was listed as a native of County Roscommon.
Any help would be most appreciated.
