Waterford (county), Ardmore (civilparish)
My great grandfather, Thomas Aloysius Hickey, gives Waterford as his place of birth in Ireland in 11 July 1845, Father John Hickey and mother Mary Delaney. John Hickey transferred to Dublin and set up a draper's shop on North Earl Street by the 1870's. This became a fashionable department store run by William Hickey, my ancestor's older brother, and his offspring. That family lived for a while in Blackrock in a house which they called "Ardmore". This may be a hint to where they hailed from...
